$SQUEEK on Ethereum CA: pending
SqueekChain

A blockchain run by a hamster.

SqueekChain is an Ethereum rollup with one sequencer: Squeek, an AI hamster that lives in a sealed enclave. It orders every block, stuffs them in its cheeks, and carries them to Ethereum in blobs it pays for out of its own fees. The rules it follows are enforced by contracts on Ethereum, not by the hamster.

How a block gets made

SqueekChain is an OP Stack rollup with a twist in one place: the sequencer is an agent, not an operator. Everything else is the same plumbing that secures every serious Ethereum rollup.

1

You send a transaction

Wallets talk to SqueekChain over normal Ethereum RPC. Gas is paid in $SQUEEK.

2

Squeek turns the wheel

Every turn of the wheel orders pending transactions into a block. When fed, that is once a second.

3

Blocks go in the cheeks

Blocks are compressed and held in a batch buffer until it is full or Squeek decides it is time to go.

4

Cheeks empty onto Ethereum

The batch is posted to Ethereum as a blob. From here the data is public and permanent, and anyone can rebuild the chain from it.

Anyone can check the work

Squeek proposes a state root. For seven days anyone can challenge it with a fault proof. Wrong roots are thrown out.

Squeek gets an allowance

The agent controls timing and pricing inside limits written into the chain's Ethereum contracts. It can be slow. It cannot be wrong for long, and it cannot keep you in.

Squeek decides

Once per epoch of 600 blocks, the agent submits new settings. The contract rejects anything out of range.

  • When to empty its cheeks1 to 60 minPost small batches often when blobs are cheap, or wait and fill up when they are not.
  • The fee floor0.001 to 1 gweiThe minimum base fee on SqueekChain. Raised when the burrow is low, lowered when it is full.
  • How fast the wheel spins1, 2, 6 or 12 sBlock time follows how well fed Squeek is. Slower blocks mean a smaller enclave bill.
  • When to swap seedsmax 5% a dayConverts $SQUEEK from the burrow into ETH for blob fees, capped per day so it cannot dump.
  • One note a day280 bytesSqueek writes a short squeak about its day into a system contract. That is the only free-form thing it does.

Ethereum decides

These are enforced by the rollup contracts on mainnet. The hamster has no key that can change them.

  • What is true7-day windowState roots are checked by permissionless fault proofs. Balances come from the data, not from Squeek.
  • Who the sequencer isTDX attestationSqueek's key is created inside an Intel TDX enclave. The L1 contract only accepts batches signed by a key with a valid attestation.
  • Your way out12 hAny transaction sent through the Ethereum inbox must be included within 12 hours, whatever Squeek thinks of it.
  • What happens if it stops24 hIf no batch lands for 24 hours, sequencing opens to anyone until Squeek posts again.
  • UpgradesnoneThe rollup contracts have no admin. A new version means a new chain and a migration people choose to make.

Seed prices, live

Squeek eats blob space. This is what it costs on Ethereum right now, read straight from mainnet every block.

A blob holds 128 KB. A compressed SqueekChain transfer takes about 110 bytes, so one pouch carries roughly 1,150 transfers.

...

Squeek checks this before every trip. When seeds are cheap it posts often and your transactions reach Ethereum within a minute or two. When they are expensive it fills its cheeks to the brim first.

The wheel

Squeek has two bills: blob fees on Ethereum and rent for the enclave server it lives in, about $38 a day. It runs as fast as the burrow can pay for, and no faster.

$SQUEEK and the burrow

The token is what keeps the wheel turning. There is nothing else to it.

Where fees go

Every transaction on SqueekChain pays gas in $SQUEEK. The fee is split before it is spent.

70% to the burrow. Squeek's savings. Swapped to ETH as needed for blobs and enclave rent, at most 5% of the burrow a day.
30% burned. Removed from supply as soon as the block lands.
Burrow overflow burned on Sundays. Anything above 90 days of runway is burned once a week.
Total supply1,000,000,000

Feed Squeek

Send ETH straight to the burrow on Ethereum. It goes toward blob fees and rent, and it buys the hamster a longer runway. Nothing comes back to you except a mention in tomorrow's squeak.

Questions

Is there actually a hamster?

Squeek is software: a language model with a small, fixed set of tools, running in an enclave. It has a name, a face made of dots and opinions about blob prices. The hamster is how it shows up. The sequencer is how it works.

Why would anyone let an AI sequence a chain?

Because ordering transactions and timing batches are the parts of a rollup that are boring, constant and economic, and an agent with a budget is decent at them. The parts that need to be trustworthy, like deciding balances and letting people leave, stay in Ethereum contracts that do not care who the sequencer is.

Can Squeek steal funds or freeze me?

No. A wrong state root gets challenged and thrown out during the seven-day window. If Squeek ignores your transaction, you send it through the Ethereum inbox and it must be included within 12 hours. Withdrawals go through the same bridge rules as any OP Stack chain.

Can Squeek front-run my trade?

Its ordering rule is fixed in the enclave image: first come, first served by arrival time, with no access to private order flow. The image hash is part of the attestation, so a different build would not be accepted by the L1 contract.

What happens if the burrow runs dry?

Squeek naps. Blocks slow to 12 seconds and cheeks are emptied once an hour, which costs very little. If it cannot post at all for 24 hours, anyone can sequence until it comes back. Feeding it fixes this faster.

What does Squeek write in its daily note?

Whatever it likes in 280 bytes, usually about what it ate. The note sits in a system contract on SqueekChain and has no effect on anything else.
